Divisions

Novice  -Junior and Senior Divisions

Open to horse and rider combinations who have not completed a Preliminary division Horse Trials.  Dressage: Novice Test B.  Small Grass Arena.  Jumps: not to exceed 2’11”. Cross Country approximately 2500 meters at 350 mpm.

 

Beginner Novice  -Junior and Senior Divisions

Open to horse and rider combinations who have not completed a Training division Horse Trials.  Dressage: Novice Test A.  Small Grass Arena.  Jumps: not to exceed 2’7”.  Cross Country approximately 2000 meters.  No time limit, but this phase will be timed for competitor’s information.

 

Introductory Novice  -Junior and Senior Divisions

Open to horse and rider combinations who have not completed a Novice division Horse Trials.  Dressage: USDF Introductory Test 2.  Small Grass Arena.  Jumps: not to exceed 2’.  Cross Country approximately 2000 meters.  No time limit.

 

Cross Country Courses

Slightly rolling, mostly open terrain.  Inviting fences at all levels, a “season-opener”.

March 28, 2001.  No phone entries.  No refunds after closing date without Vet certificate.

Deep Run Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials

General Conditions and Rules.

 

 

1.    Entries must be accompanied by full payment, current Coggins test, signed Release and mailed to the Secretary.

2.    Protective helmets secured with a harness must be worn at all

       times when mounted on grounds.  Minors & Pony Club riders

       must wear ASTM/SEI approved helmets.

3.    Dressage test must be ridden from memory and must be ridden in approved snaffle bits. 

4.    Horses may not be entered in more than one level of competition and riders may not ride more than two horses in the same division.

5.       The same horse-rider combination must perform all phases of

      competition.

6.       Schooling in the dressage and stadium areas is not permitted.

7.    Jumps are provided in warm-up areas and must be jumped in the direction flagged  –with red flag on your right side.

8.    Time for walking the stadium course will be provided before each division.

9.    Permanent stalls will be available for $25 from Friday at 4pm until Saturday at 6pm.  NO BEDDING SUPPLIED.  $10 will be refunded on  inspection of clean stall.

10.  A veterinarian will be on call.  A farrier will be on the grounds.

11.  All dogs must be leashed while on grounds.

12.  There will be six ribbon places per division and six dressage ribbon places per division.

13.  This Trials is unrecognized; however, it will be run in accordance with AHSA/USCTA rules.

14.  There will be a $10 charge for lost pinneys.

15.   Delicious food will be available on the grounds.

16.   In case of Emergency only, you may reach the Show Grounds,  on the day of the show only, at (804) 908-7635.

17.   Organizer reserves the right to combine or divide divisions based on entries.

 

Directions

From Washington, D.C.

I-95 south to I-295 by-pass (towards Charlottesville)

Take I-64 west (towards Charlottesville), then take Rockville-Manakin Exit.

 

From Rockville-Manakin Exit, turn left at end of Ramp on 623 (south)

Go about ˝ mile and turn right on 250, go about ˝ mile

Turn left on 621/Manakin Road to Deep Run Hunt Club

(approximately 1˝ miles on  right)

 

From Richmond and points east

Go west on I-64 to Rockville-Manakin Exit

Follow above directions from Rockville-Manakin exit.

 

From Charlottesville

Go east on I-64 to Rockville-Manakin Exit

Take Rockville– Manakin Exit and turn right at end of Ramp to 623 (south) and follow directions  from Rockville-Manakin exit.

Release

I understand that this is a high risk sport; I understand the propensity of an equine to behave in dangerous ways which may result in injury to the participant; I understand the inability to predict an equine’s reaction to sound, movements, objects, persons, or animals; and hazards of surface or subsurface conditions and I am participating at my own risk.  I hereby assume this risk and further hereby release and hold harmless the Deep Run Hunt Pony Club, Organizer, Organizing Committee, judges and officials of the Horse Trials, the host of this Horse Trials, the owners or custodians of any property on which the Horse Trials are held, from all liability for any accidents, damage, injury or illness to myself and to my property, including any horses which I will compete with at this Horse Trials.

 

I understand that a protective helmet secured with a harness/chinstrap must be worn at all times when mounted on grounds.  Pony Club riders must wear ASTM/SEI approved helmets.  Deep Run Hunt Pony Club strongly suggests the use of Protective Vests when competing in this event.  Correct safety gear may prevent serious injury to the rider.
